Here's how to order your hose...

step 1 - what type of hose do you need?
photo of Flextrol HoseYou can determine the type of hose that you need by checking the markings on the hose layline (the coloured stripe running the length of the hose). If you need help identifying a hose type, our service staff will be happy to assist you.
Step 3 - How long is your Hose?
Unless otherwise specified, the length of your hose assembly is measured from the extreme end of one fitting to the extreme end of the other fitting, except for O-ring Seal fittings, which are measured from the sealing face. Where elbow fittings are used, measurement is taken from the centreline of the sealing surface. The following diagrams will help you determine the length of your hose.

Step 2 - What size of hose do you need?
Hydraulic hose size is measured by the inside diameter or ID of the hose. This is usually expressed as a "Dash Number". For all hoses except SAE100R5 hose, the Dash Number of a hose is simply the hose ID expressed in sixteenths of an inch (see the chart below for identifying 100R5 hose). A hose with a 1/2" ID for example, would be called "Dash 8" or simply "-8".

The Dash Number can usually be found on the layline of the hose, or it can be determined by actually measuring the ID of the hose. Before you cut a hose to measure the ID, be sure to measure the hose length and any offset angles first (see step 3). The chart below will help you determine the dash number of your hose.
